Bad bokeh is bad

This photo shows what happens if you shoot with too shallow a depth of field. Notice how the lumps in the middle of the pie (and little clumps of cocoa powder on top) are in sharp focus, but the crust, at back, is blurry? Shot with a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 (on APS-C-size sensor, so approx. 85 mm equivalent).
