Some Helsinki architecture

Finlandia Talo/Huset/Hall

So, um, this is Finlandia Hall. If you’ve heard of no other building in Finland, you’ve probably heard of this one. Designed by Alvar Aalto (1898–1976), the third-most-famous Finnish architect, it opened in 1971, with additional facilities opening in 1975 and 2011. For some reason, most building names that in Finnish are “X talo” and Swedish “X huset” (both = English “X House”) are translated instead as “X Hall”.
