Statue of J. V. Snellman

Johan Vilhelm Snellman was a Swedish-born Finnish philosopher, university lecturer, polemicist, and statesman. As finance minister in 1865, Snellman was responsible for the introduction of a national Finnish currency, the mark (in Finnish, markka), so it makes perfect sense for his statute to be located in front of the Bank of Finland, on the street that bears his name.
